Point and Laugh

Everybody needs a midweek pick-me-up, and we love the new stand up comedy open mic nights by Point and Laugh. For a mere £3 you can enjoy the comedy talents of a great hand-picked line-up, and if you need more reasons to go, we’ve made it easy for you….

  1. Walkabout in Covent Garden’s Piazza is incredibly easy to find and transport links are endless.
  2. £3 is a bargain for a night of laughs, giggles, chortles and guffaws.
  3. Smiling will be easy peasy because Happy Hour is until 8pm! Impress your date with how cultured you are, and avoid a wheezing wallet with selected drinks at £2.50.
  4. After 8pm food and drink will be 20% off so even if you’re on the fence, the truth is you can’t afford not to go.

We went to the last open mic night and can honestly recommend it to all, whether you want to dip your toes in the world of stand-up comedy as a performer, or share a great night as part of the audience.

Come down and support the Arts! We’ll be there, and we hope to see you too.

Host Venue

So we’ve kept you waiting and it’s finally time to announce that A Friend of a Friend will be heading to Southwark Playhouse for our next show entitled “Scripted”.

We feel right at home in train arches after hosting “First Draft” at Charing Cross Theatre, and Southwark Playhouse is a beautiful atmospheric theatre tucked into the tunnels at London Bridge Station. Its reputation for encouraging new writing and edgy productions means that it will be the perfect venue for our performace on Sunday October 21st, so pop that date in your diary beacuse it promises to be a great night…. and just wait until you see who our writers are!

July 2012

The writing deadline has now passed for our October 2012 show, so Frank and Sooz will be re-reading all the incredible scripts that we have received to narrow down a shortlist of five. Everyone who submitted a script should hear from us by the end of next week.

If you’re a budding comedian or part of a comedy group you can still apply by getting in touch with us at afriendofafriendtheatre@hotmail.co.uk with a link to your website/youtube. We’ll then arrange to try to come to any performances that you have lined up.
